Hon’ble Chief Minister of Nagaland Begins Two-Day Visit to Vijayanagar, Karnataka

Vijayanagar, Toranagallu | 27 June 2025 — The Hon’ble Chief Minister of Nagaland, Shri Neiphiu Rio, arrived today at Jindal Vijayanagar Airport, Karnataka, for a two-day official visit hosted by the JSW Group. The visit aims to strengthen partnerships in sports development, industrial collaboration, and cultural engagement.

He was accorded a warm welcome and reception on arrival at Vijayanagar Airport by the JSW team and the leadership of the Inspire Institute of Sport (IIS).

The Chief Minister is accompanied by a delegation of senior dignitaries from Nagaland, including:

Mr. Abu Metha, Advisor to Chief Minister, Chairman of the Investment & Development Authority of Nagaland, and Vice President of the Athletics Federation of India

Mr. Rusemtong Longkumer, PRO to the Chief Minister

Mr. Kechangulie Rio, President, Nagaland Cricket Association (NCA)

Mr. Benei M Lamthiu, Chairman, Nagaland Super League (NSL) and MLA

Mr. Neibou Sekhose, Executive Member, All India Football Federation (AIFF), President, Nagaland Football Association (NFA)

Mr. Kethosituo Sekhose, Director of Youth Resources and Sports (DYRS)

Mr. Kuputo Shohe, Chairman, Nagaland State Mineral Development Corporation (NSMDC), Joint Secretary, Nagaland Olympic Association (NOA)

Over the course of the visit, the delegation will engage in key interactions with JSW’s leaders, observe ongoing training of Nagaland athletes at the Inspire Institute of Sport (IIS), and will also interact with Olympians and athletes at IIS. They will also tour JSW’s major industrial and cultural facilities including Kaladham and the Vijayanagar Steel Plant.

The Chief Minister and his delegation will be carrying out discussions and deliberations with JSW and IIS on future strategic developmental partnerships, sports collaborations, art residencies, and cultural opportunities amongst other verticals.

He will also be meeting and interacting with the Nagaland Super League (NSL) youth team, which is presently undergoing a high-performance training program at IIS. The team is scheduled to play friendly matches during the visit, including a highly anticipated matchup against Bengaluru FC on 28th June.

This visit marks a significant step toward deepening collaboration between Nagaland and JSW Group, with a shared focus on youth empowerment, sports excellence, and future-ready development.
