Nagaland Olympic Association Successfully Hosts Olympic Day Run 2025 in Kohima

The Nagaland Olympic Association (NOA) proudly celebrated Olympic Day on June 23rd 2025, with the successful organization of the Olympic Day Run at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima. Held under the global theme “Move, Learn, Discover – Together for a Better World,” the event aimed to promote fitness, friendship and the Olympic spirit among children.

The Olympic Day Run 2025 witnessed an enthusiastic turnout of 162 registered participants—children between the ages of 8 to 12 years—competing in a series of age-based races:

  • 50 meters – 8–9 years
  • 80 meters – 9–10 years
  • 80 meters – 10–11 years
  • 100 meters – 11–12 years

The day began with bibs distribution at 8:00 AM, followed by the flagging off races at 9:00 AM, with Shri T. Meren Paul, Senior Vice President of the Nagaland Olympic Association, serving as Chairperson for the event.

Shri Kethosituo Sekhose, Director of the Department of Youth Resources & Sports, Government of Nagaland, attended the event as Special Guest, delivering inspiring remarks to encourage the young athletes and all in attendance.

The Prize Distribution Ceremony began at 12:00 PM, followed by words of encouragement from the Special Guest and a Vote of Thanks by Mr. Neivikuolie Nicholas Khatsu, Assistant General, Joint Secretary of Nagaland Olympic Association (NOA).

With a total prize pool of over ₹1 lakh, the Olympic Day Run 2025 was a vibrant celebration of sportsmanship and youth participation, reflecting NOA’s commitment to fostering a healthier and more active society.

The Nagaland Olympic Association extends its heartfelt appreciation to all 162 participants, parents, volunteers and well-wishers who made the event a grand success.
